Hinojosa Student-Athlete Spotlight (July 2, 2020)

AS A GRADUATE STUDENT (2022-23): Named to WCC All-Academic Team ... had a team high of 19 singles wins going 19-13 overall and had an overall doubles record of 14-17 ... FALL: Went 8-4 in singles and 5-3 in doubles ... won the singles title in the consolation bracket of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships (Oct. 6-10) ... SPRING: Went 11-9 in singles play and 9-14 in doubles play ... played eight singles matches on court five and 10 on court six with even records on each ... had a stretch of six matches where he won five singles contentions (March 4-26) ... played in nine doubles matches alongside Jack Pulliam going 2-7 all on court three ... won crucial doubles match alongside Mann Shah and singles point against Saint Mary's Felipe Rincon in the Broncos' quarterfinal win in the WCC Tournament (April 27).

AS A SENIOR (2021-22): Had an overall record of 13-13 in singles and 2-12 in doubles ... FALL: 6-3 in singles and 1-3 in doubles ... SPRING: Posted a 7-10 record in singles with all wins coming on court five, going 7-5 ... finished the season winning three of the final four matches ... went 4-4 in West Coast Conference singles action ... had a 1-9 doubles record including 1-5 in WCC play ... lone doubles win came on court two while paired with Guillaume Dalmasso.  

AS A JUNIOR (2020-21 - played in the spring of 2021): Finished the season with a 6-6 singles and 4-6 doubles record ... in singles action, went 2-2 at No. 5 and 4-4 at No. 6 ... closed out the season winning four of the last six finished singles matches ... moved up the singles lineup playing the final five matches at No. 5 ... in doubles, played all matches at No. 3 with three of the four wins coming while paired with Mann Shah. 

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2019-20: Finished the season with a 9-11 singles and 7-11 doubles record ... FALL: Went 3-6 in singles and 2-6 in doubles action ... SPRING: Played primarily out of the fifth spot in the singles lineup going 5-5 and 1-0 on court three to go 6-5 in the spring .... won a West Coast Conference singles match against LMU's Ethan Prost 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 (Jan. 19) ... in doubles action, paired up with Jesus Tapiador Barajas to post a 5-5 record ... had a 3-2 record on court three before moving up to court two where the duo went 2-3 ... had a hand in both doubles and singles wins including the match clincher to life the Broncos to a 5-2 road win over Portland State (Feb. 2).   

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2018-19: Named to the WCC All-Tournament Team ... finished with a 14-7 singles and 6-4 doubles record ... FALL: Posted a 3-6 singles and 5-3 doubles record ... SPRING: Suffered just one loss going 11-1 in singles play ... strung together singles win streaks of five and six matches with the lone loss coming in three sets against San Diego State's Rafael Gonzalez (April 6) ... went 2-0 on court five and 9-1 on court six ... tied for the team-lead with four conference singles wins ... claimed the lone Bronco point in the finals of the WCC Tournament with a straight-set win over San Diego's Pratt Keerasuntonpong, 6-2, 6-2 on court six ... in doubles action, posted a 1-1 record while paired with Jesus Tapiador Barajas on court three.  

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended the ES International School in Naples, Florida, after moving from Mexico City at the age of 15 ... held an ITF junior world ranking of No. 301 ... won two International Tennis Federation grade 5 singles tournaments in the Bahamas and Bermuda ... doubles finalist at the grade 4 ITF tournament in Aruba.  

GET TO KNOW SANTIAGO: Son of David Hinojosa and Laura Andonegui … has one sibling, Maria ... enjoys spending time with friends and travelling ... plans to major in mechanical engineering with hopes of starting his own company.
