SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Starting a five-game homestand, Santa Clara women's basketball hosts Simpson Friday at 6 p.m. The Broncos won their fifth-straight game Tuesday night at UC Santa Barbara.

Santa Clara (5-2) is scoring 58.4points per game this season on 36.6% (141-385) shooting from the field. The Broncos are outrebounding teams 40.0-34.1 and forcing 25.4 turnovers. They are picking up 13.1 steals per game and dishing out 11.1 assists per game as well.

"Simpson has played in a lot of close games this year so far and they have a very balanced scoring attack," said Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. "They are one of the best 3-point shooting teams we have played so far this year so it will be important for us to defend the perimeter. We are excited to be playing at home in front of friends and family and we feel like our preseason has prepared us well for this home stretch."

Morgan McGwire, the co-WCC Player of the Week, leads Santa Clara with 11.0 ppg on 50.8% (31-61) shooting from the field and has added .57 rpg and 1.3 spg. Savanna Hanson is scoring 9.3 ppg and leads the team with 2.0 apg. She is grabbing 3.3 rpg to go with 2.3 spg. Lori Parkinson is tops on the Broncos with 6.6 rpg and is scoring 8.0 ppg. Taylor Berry is averaging a conference-high 3.6 spg while scoring 6.7 ppg and grabbing 4.3 rpg.

This will be the first meeting between Santa Clara and Simpson.

The Red Hawks (1-7) have been outscored 593-506 and outrebounded 334-292. They are shooting 38.2% (187-490) from the field and have hit 41 threes.

Three players are averaging double figures for Simpson. Esther Wofford leads the way with 14.1 ppg and is second on the team with 7.1 rpg. Kelsie Jurin scores 13.6 ppg and leads the team with 2.9 apg. Whitney Rodriguez scores 11.9 ppg and leads the way with 7.4 rpg.
