Road Trip Wraps Up for Women's Basketball at LMU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Wrapping up a quick two-game road trip, Santa Clara women's basketball returns to the court Saturday at 2 p.m. at Loyola Marymount. The Broncos got back in the win column on Thursday night with a 62-60 victory at Pepperdine.

Santa Clara (13-5, 4-3 WCC) is outscoring opponents 65.7-57.7 and outrebounding teams 40.9-33.6. The Broncos are No. 20 in the country in offensive rebounds per game with 16.0.

The Broncos shoot 39.5 percent from the floor and have hit 65 3-pointers. They are third nationally in free throws attempted (412) and sixth in free throws made (280).

As a team Santa Clara is No. 7 in the country with 23.1 turnovers forced per game. The Broncos are second nationally with 233 total steals and fifth with 12.9 steals per game.

Lori Parkinson leads the Broncos in scoring with 11.8 points per game and is second with 6.1 rebounds per game. She is also tops on the team with 20 blocks and has added 2.0 steals per game and 1.7 assists per game.

Devin Hudson leads the team with 6.3 rpg and is scoring 6.8 ppg. Morgan McGwire leads Santa Clara with a 50.3 percent mark from the field and is second in scoring with 10.8 ppg. She adds 5.8 rpg as well.

Taylor Berry is No. 25 in the nation with 45 steals. She scores 6.7 ppg and grabs 3.5 rpg. Savanna Hanson leads Santa Clara with 2.4 apg and scores 8.8 ppg with 3.6 rpg.

Santa Clara is 44-23 all-time vs. LMU with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. Last year the Lions swept the season series.

Loyola Marymount (7-10, 3-3 WCC) is being outscored on the season 68.8-68.3 but outrebounding teams 41.4-40.5. The Lions shoot 37.2 percent from the floor and 29.9 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

Sophie Taylor leads the team in scoring with 12.4 ppg and rebounding with 8.8 per game. Cheyanne Wallace scores 12.2 ppg to go with 5.1 rpg and is tops in the WCC with 2.3 blocks per game. Andee Velasco's 4.0 assists per game is tied for third in the conference and she chips in 5.5 ppg.
