Women's Basketball Travels to Provo for Matchup with BYU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In the midst of a tough four-game road trip, Santa Clara women's basketball heads to Provo to take on BYU Thursday at 6 p.m. Pacific. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv.

Last week the Broncos fell twice on the road. They lost 51-39 at Gonzaga and 61-50 at LMU.

Santa Clara is 2-13 all-time vs BYU with the first meeting coming in 1998. Earlier this season, the Broncos beat the Cougars 64-63 on Dec. 29 in the conference-opener. It was the first win for Santa Clara over BYU since the programs' first meeting on Dec. 5, 1998 when the Broncos came away with a 76-64 victory in Santa Clara. The Cougars had won 13 in a row.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (9-10, 4-4 WCC) is scoring 62.1 points per game this season while shooting 39.0 percent from the floor and 31.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos have a plus-3.2 rebound differential and are forcing 16.9 turnovers per game.

Lori Parkinson leads the team in scoring (12.4 ppg), rebounding (7.9 pg), and steals (2.0 pg). She is tied for fourth in the conference on the glass. Emily Wolph leads the WCC in 3-pointers made (44) and the Broncos in assists (4.0 pg). Wolph is second on the team with 12.1 ppg.

Morgan McGwire is third on the team in scoring with 11.1 ppg and second with 7.7 rpg. She also leads the Broncos with a 46.2 percent mark from the field. Marie Bertholdt, who missed the last game with an injury, is scoring 10.1 ppg and grabbing 5.3 rpg.

THE COUGARS
BYU (12-7, 6-2 WCC) has won six of seven since falling at Santa Clara in the conference-opener and is tied for first in the WCC.

The Cougars are scoring 66.6 points per game and allowing 61.4. They shoot 43.0 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from beyond the arc. BYU has a minus-1.5 rebound differential and are committing 15.6 tpg.

Cassie Broadhead leads the WCC with 18.4 ppg on 52.2 percent shooting. She leads BYU with 1.0 bpg and is second with 4.4 apg, 4.2 rpg, 2.0 spg, and 31 3-pointers made. Kalani Purcell leads the conference with 10.0 rpg and is third with 4.9 apg. She is tied for the team-lead with 2.1 spg. Makenzie Pulsipher has knocked-down a team-high 37 3-pointers and is second with 12.9 ppg. She is tied with Purcell with 2.0 spg while adding 3.7 rpg.
