Women's Basketball Hosts First Place Gonzaga Saturday in Play4Kay Game

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After snapping a four-game losing streak Thursday, Santa Clara women's basketball hosts first place Gonzaga at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The game will serve as the Broncos "pink" game.

The Broncos took down Portland 68-56 on Thursday night in Leavey after a tough four-game road trip that included the top three teams in the West Coast Conference.

Santa Clara is 29-35 all-time vs. Gonzaga and 17-14 in Leavey. Earlier this season in Spokane, the Bulldogs came away with a 51-39 win.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (10-12, 5-6 WCC) is scoring 62.1 points per game while shooting 38.3-percent from the field and 30.4-percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos have a plus-2.9 rebound differential and are forcing 17.1 turnovers per game.

Lori Parkinson and Emily Wolph are tied for the team-lead in scoring with 12.6 ppg. Parkinson leads Santa Clara with 1.8 spg and is second in both rebounding (8.0 per game, t-5 WCC) and assists (2.7 pg). Wolph leads the WCC in 3-pointers with 51 and leads the Broncos with 3.9 apg.

Morgan McGwire leads the way with 8.0 rpg, which is No. 4 in the conference. She is third in the league with 1.4 blocks per game and third on Santa Clara in scoring with 11.0 ppg. Marie Bertholdt is scoring 10.0 ppg and grabbing 5.3 rpg.

THE BULLDOGS
Gonzaga (18-4, 9-2 WCC) has won nine in a row after dropping the first two games of the conference season. The Bulldogs are in the top spot in the WCC standings.

The Zags are scoring 73.0 ppg, the most in the WCC, and have a plus-16.7 point differential that is tops in the league thanks to allowing a league-low 56.3 ppg. They shoot 43.5-percent from the field and 36.1-percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs also have a plus- 7.7 rebound differential.

Jill Barta is the team's lone double-digit scorer at 17.3 ppg which puts her second in the conference. She also leads the team with 30 3-pointers made and 24 blocks. Barta is adding 6.2 rpg and has gotten to the line a team-best 120 times while knocking down 101 of those attempts.

Kiara Kudron leads the Bulldogs with 7.6 rpg and is scoring 9.0 ppg while shooting 50.0-percent from the floor. Laura Stockton is fifth in the WCC with 4.7 apg and is scoring 8.0 ppg. She is tops in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.3. Elle Tinkle's 1.9 spg is tied for third in the conference and she is third on Gonzaga scoring 8.9 ppg.

Promotions: Saturday is Santa Clara's Play4Kay game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and there will be a give away of pink pom-poms. There will also be a raffle for pink warm-up gear.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
