SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off a thrilling season-opener, No. 21 Santa Clara women's soccer faces its second consecutive ranked Pac-12 opponent to open the year. The Broncos face No 18 Cal on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Stevens Stadium.
Santa Clara started the season on the right foot by coming back twice to beat No. 11 USC 3-2 in overtime on Friday night. After falling behind early, Santa Clara answered late in the first half and then scored in the final minutes of regulation to tie the game again.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (1-0) showcased its depth in the first game of the season by getting goals from three different players and assists from three others. Six Broncos were able to make their Santa Clara debut as well with two in the starting 11.
Kellie Peay, Jordan Jesolva, and Janae Gonzalez all scored for Santa Clara while Jazmin Jackmon, Jenna Roering, and Maddie Gonzalez added assists.
Melissa Lowder make three saves in her first career collegiate start.
The Broncos outshot the Trojans 12-8 and held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Seven different Santa Clara players attempted at least one shot with four attempting at least two.
THE BEARS
Cal (1-0) won its season-opener against Cal Poly 1-0 in Berkeley. The Bears outshot the Mustangs 24-3 and held an 11-0 advantage in shots on goal.
Ifeoma Onumonu scored the Bears goal and led the team with six shots and three on goal. Arielle Ship had an assist and attempted four shots. Three other Bears attempted three shots each and nine attempted at least one.
Last season the two teams played twice with the Bears coming away with wins in Berkeley and in Santa Clara. The Broncos are 16-21-7 all-time against Cal.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
