Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Maria Sanchez

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer has added Maria Sanchez to the 2017 roster. Sanchez is from American Falls, Idaho and transferred from Idaho State.

As a sophomore at Idaho State Sanchez scored 15 goals and added four assists. Her 0.88 goals per game and 2.0 points per game rank No. 1 in a single season at ISU. She was awarded the Big Sky Golden Boot and was the MVP. That season Sanchez was also named to the conference All-Tournament team.

As a freshman, she scored seven goals and had eight assists while being named to the conference All-Tournament team.

At American Falls High School, Sanchez was her team's MVP all four years and was a team captain as a senior. She scored 178 goals in four seasons to set a school record and scored 68 with 13 consecutive hat tricks as a senior. In 2012 her team won the district championship. Her No. 17 jersey was retired by American Falls.

She plans to major in marketing. In her free time Sanchez enjoys playing the guitar.
