SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After taking down the top seed in the NCAA Tournament, Santa Clara women's soccer plays North Carolina State Sunday at 1 p.m. in Palo Alto in the third round. It is the first trip to the third round for the Broncos since 2013.
Santa Clara is 1-1 all-time vs. NC State. The teams have not met since 1989. It is also the first time the two programs will play in the NCAA Tournament against each other.
The Broncos beat No. 2 Stanford 1-0 in double overtime on Friday night for their first win in the NCAA Tournament over the Cardinal since 2004. It was the first win over Stanford in Palo Alto in the NCAA Tournament in Santa Clara history.
Santa Clara has now beaten Stanford in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2003-04. The Broncos also topped Stanford 1-0 last season on Sept. 20, 2015.
It was also the highest-ranked opponent Santa Clara has beaten since 2007 when the Broncos beat No. 2 Notre Dame 7-1.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (11-6-4) is riding a six-game winning streak and has one eight of its last nine. During their winning streak, the Broncos have outscored opponents 11-2 and have not surrendered more than one goal.
Jordan Jesolva leads the team with nine goals and four assists for a team-high 22 points. Maddie Gonzalez has found the back of the net five times and added three assists. Four other Broncos have at least two goals each and four have scored once apiece.
Melissa Lowder has allowed 13 goals in 18 games for a 0.70 GAA. She has made 64 saves, highlighted by a career-high 14 at Stanford Friday, for a .831 save percentage. She has eight shutouts this season and Courtney Ogren has added one to give the Broncos nine on the year.
THE WOLFPACK
NC State (11-8-2) has won just two times in its last nine matches, with one coming over No. 19 Pepperdine Friday. In the first round the Wolfpack advanced on penalty kicks against No. 8 Minnesota.
Tziarra King leads the team with eight goals and has added one assist for 17 points. Ricarda Walkling and Hannah Keogh have a team-best six assists each. Kia Rankin has scored five goals to go with three assists.
Sydney Wootten has allowed 21 goals in 21 games for a 0.99 GAA and has made 74 saves to post a .779 save percentage. She has collected seven shutouts this season.
