Women's Soccer Faces No. 10 Minnesota Sunday Afternoon to Finish Homestand

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Finishing up its four-game homestand, Santa Clara women's soccer faces No. 10 Minnesota at noon on Sunday at Stevens Stadium. It is the fourth ranked opponent this season for the Broncos and the first in the top-10.

Santa Clara beat Minnesota 1-0 in the second round of the 1997 NCAA Tournament in the only previous meeting between the two teams.

On Friday night, the Broncos played their third straight overtime contest and tied No. 20 Notre Dame 0-0. The Broncos are now 2-0-3 in extra time this year and haven't lost an overtime match since 2014 (7-0-5).

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara's (2-2-3) leading scorer is Jordan Jesolva who has three goals and seven points. Jenna Roering, Julie Vass, Janae Gonzalez, and Kellie Peay have each found the back of the net once and Jesolva, Roering, Maddie Gonzalez, and Jazmin Jackmon each have an assist.

Melissa Lowder has started six games in net and has allowed five goals for a 0.84 GAA. She has 17 saves and a .773 save percentage to go with two shutouts.

Courtney Ogren came in to start the second half against Marquette and made her first career start vs. Wisconsin. She has allowed two goals for a 1.03 GAA and has 10 saves for a .833 save percentage.

THE GOLDEN GOPHERS
Minnesota (5-2) started the season with five straight wins before falling at Duke and at Stanford in its last two matches.

The Golden Gophers have outscored opponents 17-6 on the season and outshot teams 122-81. They have a 47-28 advantage in shots on goal.

Simone Kolander leads the team with 13 points and three assists. She is tied with April Brockin for the team lead with five goals. Brockin has also added an assist. Josee Stiever has found the back of the net three times and Julianna Gernes has scored twice.

Tarah Hobbs has allowed six goals in seven matches for a 1.00 GAA. She has 17 saves and a .739 save percentage as well as two shutouts.

Parking: For weekday matches, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
