Bronco Invitational Results

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara's women's tennis team hosted three Bay Area schools for the Bronco Invitational over the weekend. Starting on Friday, the Broncos played both singles and doubles against San Jose State (SJSU), Stanford and University of San Francisco (USF). With Katie Le participating in the ITA National Indoors in New York, the Broncos fought hard in their last tournament of the fall in Santa Clara. 

Maggie McGeorge, who only participated in first half of the season in 2011-12 played well in both singles and doubles. McGeorge defeated Margot Charron of SJSU with a 6-0, 6-2 score on Friday and defeated Justine Deleval, also from SJSU, 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday. In doubles on Saturday, McGeorge and her partner, Kelly Lamble defeated Stanford's Lindsay Kostats and Nicole Gibbs 8-1 and Andrea Ka and Yurie Hashiguchi from USF 8-3. 

The Bronco's head coach Ben Cabell was pleased with their performance over the weekend. "Maggie and Kelly did extremely well in doubles. We are all very happy with what they are doing," continued Cabell. "Maggie came back from her injury and is looking strong now. It was Maggie's first time playing singles after her come back and she is looking very good."

Nikki Wolny and Stephanie Skaras lost their first doubles match on Friday but defeated Amber Walker and Chau Truong from SJSU 8-5 on Saturday. Wolny collected a win in singles over USF's Blair Reed, 6-0, 6-1 and also defeated Isadora Busch of SJSU 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday.

Charlotte Newell had a close match against Jessica Willett of SJS on Friday, but she fell 6-4, 1-6, 6-7(8).
