Women's Tennis Breaks into the Rankings at No. 58; Le Moves Up to No. 25

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-- With two exciting upset wins over No. 53 San Diego on Saturday, 6-1, and then-No. 40 Saint Mary's on Sunday, 4-3, the Santa Clara women's tennis team received its first national ranking of the 2012-13 season, checking in at No. 58 as named by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tues., April 9. In addition to the team ranking, junior Katie Le has moved up three spots to No. 25 individually.

At No. 58, this is Santa Clara's second-highest team ranking in program history. The Broncos (9-8; 5-1 WCC) reached the No. 51 spot in 2012. The wins also move Santa Clara into second place in the West Coast Conference -- the team has never finished higher than third overall in league.

April 3 Le defeated the defending NCAA Singles and Doubles Champion then-No. 20 Nicole Gibbs of then-No. 12 Stanford by a score of 6-7(1), 6-3, 1-0(8). April 7, Le topped then-No. 17 Jenny Jullien of then-No. 40 Saint Mary's to clinch the match by a score of 7-5, 7-6(4).
