Women's Water Polo Drop Season Opener to No. 8 Hawaii

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Bronco women's water polo team opened up their season on Jan. 29 with stiff competition facing No. 8 Hawaii. Senior co-captain Lauren Radich had a standout game, scoring three of the Broncos five goals. Hawaii proved to be too much, handing the Broncos their first loss of the season with the 15-5 victory. 

The Rainbow Warriors immediately took control of the game, going on a two-goal run. Off an earned ejection, Radich put in a goal, bringing the Broncos within one, 2-1. Elizabeth Anderson followed up with another Bronco goal to tie the game two all. The Rainbow Warriors went on another two-goal run to round out the first quarter with the 4-2 lead. 

Just a minute into the second quarter, the Rainbow Warriors scored another goal. Radich was the solo goal scorer for the Broncos this quarter, and the Rainbow Warriors continued to pull ahead with the 7-3 lead going into half. 

Julia Peters fired a goal into the net to start off the third quarter and Radich put in her third and final goal in the fourth quarter. The Rainbow Warriors finished out the game, taking home the 15-5 win.
