SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara University's Scott Travers was just five shots off the lead and finished in a tie for fourth among 82 players at the St. Mary's Invitational held at the Blackhorse Golf Course and Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside.

Travers entered final-round play Tuesday tied for the lead after posting opening rounds of 69 and 71 Monday. SCU sophomore Rick Lamb was 4-over par for the tournament and also placed among the top 10.

Ronnald Monaco shot a round of 67 Monday afternoon en route to coming in tied for 26^th - the second lowest score of the tournament. The trio helped Santa Clara out-play 11 other schools overall and finish fourth as team.

"We were a little dissapointed in our final round. It was a neck-and-neck race for that second place finish and we were edged out due to our play on our last six holes," said Santa Clara head coach Rob Miller. "Credit to Notre Dame they played really well."

"Other than that, it's nice to see Scott (Travers) return to his top five form. Ronnald (Monaco) was exceptional yesterday which put us in position. Rick (Lamb) was really steady and Cory (Mehl) bounced back today to have a good round."

"Scoring was tough out there. The pins were real tough, which is typical on a Tuesday. There were not a lot of low scores, just one round or so in the 60's."

The Broncos will play their last tournament of the fall season Nov. 1-3 at the Pacific Invitational at Brookside Country Club in Stockton.
