Rick Lamb Finishes 13th at NCAA Regionals in San Diego

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Santa Clara University sophomore Rick Lamb finished in a tie for 13th overall in a 75-player field at the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Golf San Diego Regional at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.

Lamb shot his second consecutive one-under par 71, coming in second among the 10 individuals entered in the event and with rounds of 75, 71 and 71, he was just six shots from moving on to qualify for next week's NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla.

Tournament host and 4th-seeded San Diego out of the West Coast Conference shot the day's best team score (280; -8) and finished in third with an even-par 864 total.  Rounding out the top five was No. 5 seed Ohio State (865; +1) and No. 2 seed Texas (873; +9).  Earning the lone individual bid to Nationals is senior Jason Millard of Middle Tennessee State who totaled a 5-under par total of 211 (72-69-70). 

Lamb finishes the year with All-West Coast Conference distinction and was Santa Clara's 2011 scoring leader. He had recieved an at-large bid into the event, which is featured 12 of the region's top teams plus the 10 individuals.
