LONG BEACH, Calif. – Rick Lamb played the final 10 holes 3-under par to place second overall and Scott Travers birdied five of six midway through Tuesday's final round as Santa Clara University claimed the team title at the 15th Annual Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic, hosted by Long Beach State.

Santa Clara's five counting golfers were a combined 5-under par on the back nine down the stretch, out-playing a field of 10 teams to win for the first time since capturing the Desert Intercollegiate in October of 2009.

"This was truly a team effort, which is usually the case in a win, but the individual achievements are noteworthy," said SCU head coach Rob Miller. "The six-count-five format tested the depth of the team and gave our young players a chance to shine."

Lamb posted consecutive rounds of 71 Monday, then finished with a 3-under par 67 Tuesday, including paring the final two holes to secure the team victory by just one shot over host Long Beach State. Lamb's twin brother Scott Lamb, fired a final-round 69 and true freshman Scott Lowe closed the tournament with a 71. 

"This was a big step for the team and a much needed confidence builder going into our two upcoming events over the spring break," added Miller.
