Men’s Golf Heads Back To Oregon For Duck Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Two weeks after a fifth-place finish at the Bandon Dunes Championship, Santa Clara men's golf returns to Oregon Monday to compete in the 16-team Duck Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon at the 7,020-yard, par-71 Eugene Country Club.

Ranked No. 52 in the recent Golfstat.com poll, the Broncos will again be part of a stacked field with nine teams ranked in the top-100 and six among the best 56 in the nation. Arizona (29) and host Oregon (30) are the highest ranked schools.

Also among the top-100 are Colorado State (38), Saint Mary's (45), Liberty (56), Iowa (78), UAB (90) and Oregon State (96).

Sophomore Matt McCarty has been the Broncos top finisher in three of four spring events. He claimed his first individual title at The Farms last month and placed among the top-5 for the third time in his career by tying for fifth at Bandon Dunes.

The top three players in the Broncos lineup remain the same with senior Hayden Shieh and junior Derek Ackerman joining McCarty. The trio has played every round this season with Shieh (70.17) and McCarty (70.96) each posting a stroke average under 71. Sophomore Will DelBiaggio will compete as a team member for the fourth consecutive event. He carded a career-low 70 in the second-round of the Bandon Dunes.

Rounding out the five-player team is freshman Zack Kaneshiro, who returns to the lineup after skipping the previous two events.

The field will play 36 holes on Monday beginning with a shotgun start format at 8:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
