SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Broncos women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory over UC Davis Saturday afternoon behind dominant singles and doubles performances from the entire team.

"I was very impressed with the team," said head coach Ben Cabell. "They stepped up; winning on the road is never easy. Everybody had great wins and it was a true team effort."

The win against the Aggies moves Santa Clara to 2-1 on the year.

Chelby Cooke and Madison Clarke started off doubles with a 6-4 win over UC Davis' Tiffany Pham and Alex Huie.

The duo of Nabila Farah and Daniella Silva secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Kristy Jorgensen and Lani-Rae Green of the Aggies.

"In singles, everybody played really well," said Cabell. "(Clarke) did a great job on Court 1 after dropping the first set. That was a really nice effort."

Clarke lost her first set against Jorgensen 6-0 but rallied back with two 6-4 wins to take the match ad finish off the day.

Cooke defeated Green on Court 2 6-3, 6-4 and Silva took down Jessie Lee 6-2, 6-3.

Santa Clara's next match will be against San Jose State next Saturday at 11 a.m. in San Jose.
