SANTA CLARA ENTRIES

NOTES

  • The Broncos begin their 2021 season after racing only twice last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Santa Clara's teams competed in the WCC Championships on Feb. 24. Jack Davidson qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships as an individual, becoming the first men's in program history to reach the biggest collegiate stage.
  • Davidson, in his final season with the team, clocked an 8k program record 23:37.7 at WCCs to take eighth place and become the first Bronco men's All-WCC runner since 2009. He placed 65th at NCAAs with a 10k 31:09.0.
  • The men's team returns four of its five scorers from the 2020 WCC meet: Zach Litoff, Drew Burns, Ian Twyman and Nicholas Russell. Returners Kyle Johnson and Harvey Chilcott also raced at the conference event. The team has placed fourth at WCCs in each of the last two years.
  • The women's team welcomes back its top two scorers and four of five scorers overall from the 2020 WCC meet: Kinsey Hall, Hayley Harrison, Irene Nagasaka and Hope Olbricht. Returners Hannah Aguirre, Luciana Lenth, Sasha Codiga and Maiya Fujiwara also raced at conference.
  • SCU in WCC Preseason Poll: Men 4/9 | Women: 6/10

QUOTABLE

"The team is super excited to finally get back on the trails for a cross country race. I am very curious to see how the team we are racing competes in this field. The guys are fit and excited to get out there." - Head coach Felipe Montoro on the men's team

"I think I speak for all of us, especially having had no cross country last fall, when I say we are thrilled to get this season going. There's a really good energy at practice right now. There are still a lot of unknowns, but we've been training well, and Saturday will be a good gauge for us against a very cometitive field." - Associate head coach Pete Cushman on the women's team
