Beach Hosts Pacific Wednesday for First Home Dual of 2020

Santa Clara plays the first of two home duals for this season on Wednesday afternoon.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball is set for the first home dual of the 2020 campaign on Wednesday. The Broncos host West Coast Conference foe Pacific for a 3 p.m. first serve at the SCU Beach Volleyball Courts.

Kathryn Decker and Michelle Shaffer are 5-4 at the top position for the Broncos (0-9). Julia Sangiacomo, Claire Doud, Brynn Paumen and Elizabeth Held each picked up their first match victory with Santa Clara last Friday as part of a tripleheader at Irvine Valley College.

The Tigers (1-4) swept San Joaquin Delta College in their first dual of the season before dropping contests against Sacramento State, San José State, No. 19 Arizona State and No. 11 Cal over the weekend.

"Our team has improved over the first two weekends and we've aligned new pairs that showcase our best compatible partnerships," associate head coach Jeff Alzina said. "We beat Pacific last year and they have improved also, so we should have an inspired matchup. We hope to see a lot of fans outside Malley on a gorgeous day to support our Broncos for the home opener."

ADMISSION

Admission to beach volleyball matches at Santa Clara is free. There will be light, single-row bleacher seating available that is first come, first served. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs. See the map below for court location (outlined in green on left).

PARKING

On weekdays, parking on campus is subject to normal daily rates and restrictions, including the Leavey Center lot and the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
