Meet the Future of Bronco Women's Soccer: Alyssa Fiddes

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - With preparations being made for the upcoming 2015 season, the Santa Clara women's soccer team welcomes Alyssa Fiddes from the 2015 signing class to the Broncos' roster. Fiddes is from San Diego, Calif. and attends Cathedral Catholic High School.

"We are very excited about Alyssa joining our 2015 recruiting class," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith. "She is a dynamic player with a lot of versatility."

Competing at Cathedral Catholic, Fiddes has helped lead the Dons to notable accomplishments. In 2014, Cathedral Catholic was named Western League Champions and Regional Southern California State Champions. The Dons also captured the CIF San Diego Championship title. A year prior, Fiddes proved to be an integral part of the Cathedral Catholic squad that went on to be crowned CIF San Diego Champions and Western League Champions.

At the club level, Fiddes and her squad captured the ENCL League Championship in 2012-13 and 2013-14. In 2012, the team reached the finals and placed third the following year. On an individual level, Fiddes made the 2013 pool for the Olympic Development Program.

"I chose Santa Clara University because when I visited, I immediately felt at home," said Fiddes. "There is so much to love about SCU; the outstanding academics, the ideal location, the religious affiliation, and obviously the wonderful athletic teams on campus. In addition, I know a variety of SCU alumni and current SCU students who all speak very highly of Santa Clara. When I visited, I noted that the team was like a family. I loved how welcoming and close the girls were."

Fiddes comes from an athletic family lineage. Her father, Gregg, played basketball at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and her brother, Justin, currently plays soccer at the University of Washington.

Away from the pitch, Fiddes is a campus minister and member of the National Honor Society at her high school. In her spare time, she enjoys photography.
