MORAGA, Calif. – Freshman Jamie Schroer had a hand in three of the seven Santa Clara wins including a pair of singles wins to advance to the semifinals of the singles B Draw at the Saint Mary's Fall Invite on Saturday.

In the round of 16, Schroer handled Sacramento State's Carolina Chernyetsky in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, before deposing San José State's Mathilda Vidgren, 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.  The freshman from Tucson, Arizona will next play Alba Pedrero Galindo of San José State in the semifinals on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. PT.

Earlier in the day, Schroer teamed up with sophomore Elvena Gevargiz to beat San Francisco's Amber Del Rosario and Sofia Wicker, 8-3, in Saturday's extra doubles bracket.

Santa Clara got a strong performance from another freshman Lindsey Pesqueira, who advanced to the quarterfinals round of the singles C Draw beating Sacramento State's Frana Ugarkovic 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-0, before falling to No. 1 seed Jessica Walker of UC Davis, 6-3, 6-4.

In the doubles A Draw, juniors Maddie Pothoff and Caitlyn Frankel looked to build on the momentum from Friday's two wins but lost, 8-5, to Wisconsin's Anna Makarova and Melissa Pick in the semifinals.

Frankel did pick up two wins in the singles consolation B Draw with Gevargiz picking up a win in the singles consolation A Draw.

Sunday is the final day of the SMC Fall Invite at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
