Women’s Tennis Hosts Two WCC Matches This Weekend
UPDATE (March 23): Saturday's first serve has been pushed back by an hour to 1 p.m. due to overnight rain.  
 
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis returns to action this weekend to host West Coast Conference matches against Pacific on Saturday and Saint Mary's on Sunday.  First serve for both matches are at noon PT at the Degheri Tennis Center.  
 
Santa Clara (3-6, 0-2 WCC) will play its first match since March 7.   The match against Grand Canyon on March 9 was canceled in mid-play due to rain.  
 
"We are entering the meat of the conference season.  The weather is supposed to be decent and the players will be done with their finals so we are looking forward to the weekend," said Broncos head coach Ben Cabell.  
 
Both Pacific (3-6, 0-0) and Saint Mary's (3-7, 0-0) opens its conference slate this week playing at San Francisco before facing the Broncos.  On the road, the Tigers are 1-4 and the Gaels are 2-5 this season.  The Broncos are 3-2 at home. 
 
Maddie Pothoff is ranked No. 86 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Rankings for singles after defeating then-No. 22 Michaela Gordon of Stanford in the Broncos last match.
