Women's Tennis Rolls Past UC Davis

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Maddie Podhoff and Elvena Gevargiz kept their hot streaks intact and Santa Clara women's tennis cruised to its second win in four days.

Podhoff and Gevargiz each won in singles and combined for a dominating victory in doubles to lead the Broncos to a convincing 7-0 win over UC Davis on Sunday.

Playing on court one, Podhoff captured her fifth-straight singles match when Nikita Pradeep had to retire due to injury in the first set, with Podhoff leading 5-2.

Gevargiz defeated Sara Tsukamoto 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 position for her fourth-consecutive singles triumph.

Jamie Schroer, Caitlyn Frankel and Nadine Del Carmen also won in straight sets. Schroer's 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Aggies' Shirley Hall clinched the match for the Broncos (3-3).

Del Carmen and Schroer downed Isabella Ebbe and Jessica Walker 6-3 on court three to clinch the doubles point.

Podhoff and Gevargiz easily dispatched the UC Davis No. 1 duo of Tsukamoto and Kelsie Bryant by a score of 6-0.

The Aggies (3-6) had their two-match winning streak snapped.

The Broncos knocked off Southeastern Louisiana, 4-0, on Thursday.
