THE BRONCOS

• This Season (Spring 2021): 5-11 (5-11 WCC, 4-3 Home, 1-8 Away) | Last Season (2019): 21-12 (10-8 WCC), NIVC Second Round

The Broncos enter the week at 29th in the NCAA and first in the WCC with 1.76 aces/set. Individually, Sohpia Tulino leads the conference with 0.44 aces/set. Santa Clara has posted 10 or more aces three times on the season and is averaging 2.27 aces/set in Leavey Center.

Julia Sangiacomo ranks third in the WCC with 4.21 kills/set and second with 4.78 points/set. She had at least 10 kills in each of the first 13 matches of the season and produced 15 kills in the first matchup at BYU. Earlier this season, she recorded a career-high 27 kills in a five-set match against Portland on March 8.

Tulino has at least 11 kills in 13 of 16 matches this season and posted 11 kills in her first 10 collegiate contests to start the season. She ranks seventh in the WCC with 4.16 points/set and ninth with 3.54 kills/set. The freshman outside hitter has posted multiple aces six times, including four aces in each of Santa Clara's first two matches against then-No. 18 San Diego.

Michelle Shaffer posted a 32 assist, 12-dig, 11-kill triple-double in a five-set win at Gonzaga on March 12. Shaffer has two career triple-doubles and is tied for Santa Clara's all-time lead in that category, alongside Stacey MacDonough (1985-88), Jennifer Guigliano (1990-93) and Becky Potter (2000-03). Shaffer is one of only two Broncos all-time to record a triple-double with kills, assists and digs. She and Kathryn Decker achieved that feat last season.

The Broncos are hitting .197 on the season and outblocking opponents 113-99.
