Volleyball’s Sangiacomo Named to AVCA All-Region Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. — One week after picking up First Team All-West Coast Conference honors, Santa Clara volleyball's Julia Sangiacomo has another award to add to a rapidly-growing collection. Sangiacomo was named to the AVCA Pacific North All-Region Team on Tuesday.

The sophomore outside hitter was the only WCC student-athlete named to the team of 14.

Sangiacomo finished the season with team-best marks in kills/set (4.20, 38th NCAA), total kills (269, 65th NCAA), points/set (4.77, 36th NCAA) and total points (305, 64th NCAA); those numbers were all good for top three in the WCC. She recorded at least 10 kills in 16 of 18 matches on the season, including 13 straight to start the campaign. She was second on the Broncos with 143 digs and 21 aces.

Her selection marks the 16th all-region/all-district nod for the Broncos in program history, along with Taylor Odom (2019), Nikki Hess (2015), Danielle Rottman (2015), Kirsten Mead (2015), Anna Cmaylo (2005, 2006, 2008), Crystal Matich (2005), Cassie Perret (2005), Becky Potter (2002, 2003), Ynez Carrasco (2000), Laura Echolds (1998) and Jamie Elson (1996).

AVCA All-Americans will be announced on Wednesday, April 21.
