Box Score

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's soccer team battled local and conference rival University of San Francisco to a 0-0 double overtime draw. The Broncos were aggressive and dominated play throughout the game, but could not get the ball to the back of the net in the 110 minute long contest. SCU had 23 shots in the game, six off the foot of sophomore David Castellanos, to USF's nine, but still Santa Clara could not get a break and get on the board.

Goal keeper Kevin Klasila had three saves on the evening, behind a strong SCU backline. The Broncos' defense, led by captain Jide Ogunbiyi made several diving tackles and cut off runs to prevent the Dons from getting many scoring chances. In the first half, Santa Clara fired six consecutive shots while keeping San Francisco at bay and without a shot. Only three USF players had shots in the game, compared to the nine Broncos who sailed shots around the box.

While Santa Clara (3-6-5, 1-2-3 WCC) could not get in the win column over a talented Dons' squad (4-7-2, 3-2-1 WCC), they will have the opportunity to redeem themselves as they travel to San Francisco this Sunday, Oct. 26. It will be the final time the Broncos and Dons will face each other in the regular season behind 110 minutes of frustrated scoreless play. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
