Men's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season In SoCal

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's soccer team closes out the 2008 regular-season with a trip to southern California. The Broncos will battle the Lions of Loyola Marymount on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles and then travel to San Diego to take on the Toreros on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Broncos rallied to a 2-2 overtime draw with longtime rival the Gaels of Saint Mary's. Sophomore Jalil Anibaba scored his second goal of the season and dished out an assist on freshman Alex Fitschen's first collegiate goal. In goal, freshman Naushad Godrej earned the tied.

Bronco Watch
Freshman Connor Mitchell leads the Broncos with nine points (3 G, 3A), while Jeff Cosgriff is second on the team with eight points (3G, 2A). In goal, Kevin Klasila has a team-best 1.32 GAA and 34 saves.

In the WCC
The Broncos head into the final week fourth in goals and tied for fourth in assists. Individually, Mitchell and Brandon Zimmerman are tied for fifth in assists. In WCC games only, SCU is third in shots and tied for third in shutouts. Individually, Anibaba is ninth in shots, Mitchell is tied for third in assists, Cosgriff is tied for fifth in game-winning goals, and Klasila is tied for third in shutouts.

Scouting Loyola Marymount
The Lions enter the weekend with a 5-8-5 record and a 3-6-1 mark in the WCC. LMU will look towards home field advantage for the final weekend of play to break a two game losing streak. The Lions are led by Rafael Baca with nine points (4G, 1A) and Brad Stisser with seven points (2G, 3A). In goal, Patrick Sampson leads with a 5-5-4 record, with four shutouts and 59 saves.

Last Time Out vs. LMU
Oct. 17, 2008 - The Broncos tied the Lions 2-2 at Buck Shaw Stadium. Zimmerman and Sean Danzeiser scored for SCU, while Klasila earned the draw.

Friday marks the 32nd meeting of the two programs in a series that Santa Clara leads 22-7-2

Scouting San Diego
The Toreros enter the weekend with a 6-4-0 WCC record and a 6-9-3 overall record. San Diego is on a three-game drought in the month of November, falling to Saint Mary's (Nov. 2), Gonzaga (Nov. 7) and Portland (Nov. 9). Andrew Feld leads the team with 17 points (7G, 3A), while JT Howlan has 11 points (4G, 3A). In goal, Kelen Briones is 6-6-2 with a 1.23 GAA and 58 saves.

Last Time Out vs. USD
Oct. 19, 2008 - For their first win of the WCC schedule, the Broncos posted a 1-0 upset of the then-undefeated-in-league-play Toreros. Cosgriff scored the lone goal, while Klasila picked up the win.

All-Time vs. San Diego
Friday marks the 36th meeting of the two programs in a series that Santa Clara leads 25-9-1.
