The Broncos earned their first win of the season last weekend in their final match of the Middleton Sports & Fitness Invitational in Madison, Wis. Santa Clara topped UW-Milwaukee, 2-1, with freshman Mykell Bates scoring the game-winning header. SCU, on the basis of a head-to-head result with Milwaukee, finished second in the tournament with a 1-1-0 record.

Bronco Watch
With two weekends complete, the Broncos have had four different players score at least one goal and three dish out some help. Jeff Cosgriff leads the squad with five points (2G, 1A), while senior Brian Martin is right behind him with 4 points (2G). Bates and Ross Smith have also netted goals for the Broncos, while freshmen Brandon Zimmerman and Brian Bruggner have each earned an assist.

All-Tournament Honorees
The Broncos had three players earn all-tournament accolades in Madison last weekend. Cosgriff and Bates were named to the team, while Jalil Anibaba earned Defensive MVP honors. Cosgriff notched the assist on Bates' goal, while Anibaba played a key role in SCU's defense that limited the Panthers to only to just six shots.
