SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis is set to compete in the St. Mary's Invitational this weekend. The final competition of the fall season for the Broncos will take place in Moraga, California, on Saturday, Oct. 29 at St. Mary's University's Timothy Korth Tennis Complex. Originally planned to take place Friday-Sunday, the tournament will now be played exclusively on Saturday due to rain in the forecast.
"It's an exciting time of the year," head coach Niall Angus said. "It's the last tournament and the guys have put in a lot of work. It's time to show that on the court. We've improved in every tournament we've played in so far.
The SMC Invitational will feature nine teams from across Northern California. Alongside the host Gaels and the Broncos, Pacific will be present, as well as Pac-12 members Stanford and Cal. Sacramento State, UC Davis, Sonoma State, and Holy Names will compete as well.

The Broncos entire team is set to compete in the event. The freshmen duo of Vasileios Iliopoulos and Jesus Tapiador Barajas will return to the court after strong showings in their first two competitions. The quartet of sophomores, Connor Garnett, Andrew Gu, Kamran Khan and Robert Seby will look to continue quality play along with juniors Max Heerinckx and Sebastien Mathieu.
"Now is the time to step up," Angus said. "It's time to go after some of these guys that we're going to see later on in the spring. We've got some experience now from the first couple of tournaments and some experience from the previous years. Now the freshmen, sophomores and juniors are all ready to go."
