SCU Women Surge Ahead at Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Fresh off a tournament victory last time out, the Santa Clara University women's golf team is off to another great start, this time leading Cal Poly's Lamkin Grip Invitational.

The Broncos out-played 10 other teams on Day One, shooting a combined score of 319 at Cypress Ridge Golf Course near Pismo Beach. Junior transfer Balbina Guajardo posted an opening round 77 and sits in a tie for third, while teammate Taylor Camany shot a 78 and is tied for seventh.

Displaying the team depth that has SCU leading the tournament as group, the Broncos finished Round One leading all teams in birdies (7) and par 5 scoring (+3). Brooke Stephens is tied for 14th and individual entry and newcomer Casey Briggs posted one of her best rounds of the season and will open Tuesday's final round tied for 16th overall.
