ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Santa Clara
University junior Balbina
Guajardo and the Bronco women's golf team captured their second
straight tournament win this fall, doing it on California's central
coast. Balbina, who won the individual title, shares some images
and some of her experiences during the week that was...
We had some bumps in the road at the beginning of this season.
Our first tournament was really rough and we didn't perform as
expected. However, this only made us stronger as a team and we all
learned from our mistakes. We took the best from this situation,
kept on going forward and tried to change our game plan for the
future.
After evaluating and analyzing the tournament results, we
worked at our game and started to see great improvements. As we
played in more tournaments, our performance got better each time
and our hard work was paying off. After the win in our home
tournament, we were really excited and this was a great moment of
success for all of us. As a team we had great results, four of our
players were in the top 10 and sophomore Taylor Camany won
her first collegiate event individually.
This made us realize that if we work together as a team we can
accomplish great things when our goals are mutual. We kept on
working hard, and preparing ourselves for the last tournament of
the season. We knew this was a tournament where we had a great
opportunity to stand out, but we needed to concentrate shot by shot
and lift ourselves up when needed. Surprisingly, after the first
day we had a four shot lead with one more round to play. The course
was in tough conditions, and the wind didn't help at all. But we
managed to keep our game together and turn in solid rounds, which
brought us our second straight win for the Broncos! In addition to
this, I won my first individual title as a Bronco.

to the team. We are all really thankful for the time you give us,
and appreciate everything that you are doing with the team. This is
only the beginning of our new year, and more wins are to come!
