ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Junior Kristin Le ended the first day of the Cal Poly Lady Mustang Invitational in first place after firing a career-low round of 4-under 68 lifting Santa Clara women's golf into a first place tie with host Cal Poly at 2-over 290.

"They played very well today," head coach Krystal Kelly said of her Broncos. "We have typically had some higher scores here, so it was nice to see such a low round."

With an 18-stroke lead over third place Northern Colorado, the Broncos and Mustangs are in a two-team race for the title.

Le bested her previous low round by two shots and carries a one-stroke lead over Cal Poly's Jamie Harada into Sunday's final round. "Kristin played unbelievably well. At one point she was six under, she also eagled the challenging 14th hole," Kelly noted.

Lurking just two shots off the lead is senior Annie Freman, who shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday. Freman won the event during the 2013-14 season and finished as the runner-up last season. "Annie played well today," Kelly added. "It was fun watching her play. She was very steady."

Junior Isabella Salant carded a 3-over 75 and is tied for 10th. Freshman Chloe Wong is tied for 16th following her 5-over 77 and Kyleigh Moreno sits in a tie for 38th after scoring an 82.

Sophomore Cynthia Navis, from nearby Nipomo, shot a 7-over 79 competing as an individual in her first event of the season. Also competing for the first time, freshman Isabella Seeburger carded an 80.

Final round action begins at 8 a.m. Sunday on the 6,011-yard, par-72 Cypress Ridge Golf Course. "I'm really proud of my team. I'm looking forward to teeing it up with them tomorrow," Kelly concluded.

There will be no live scoring for this event. Results will be posted on SantaClaraBroncos.com at the conclusion of each round.
