Women's Soccer Starts Season Ranked in Top-10

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the first official practice in the books, Santa Clara women's soccer starts the 2014 season ranked No. 10 in the country in the initial NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I rankings. The Broncos finished 2013 ranked No. 7 in the country with a record of 16-4-2 after failing to advance in a Sweet 16 matchup at Virginia Tech in penalty kicks. The Broncos also won a share of the West Coast Conference with a record of 8-1-0.

Defending national champion UCLA starts the year No. 1 with 24 of 27 first place votes. WCC rival Portland enters the year No. 11 while BYU is No. 22. Of the top-25, Santa Clara will also play No. 16 Notre Dame.

The regular season kicks off Aug. 22 vs. UC Irvine at Buck Shaw at 7 p.m. The match up with Notre Dame will be Sept. 5 at 7:30 at Buck Shaw. The Broncos will face BYU in Provo, Utah on Oct. 23 and welcome Portland Nov. 2.
