Meet the Future of Bronco Women's Soccer: Carley Robertson

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - With the upcoming season nearing closer and closer, the Santa Clara women's soccer team welcomes Carley Robertson from the 2015 signing class to the Broncos' roster. Robertson is from nearby Pleasanton, Calif. and attends Foothill High School.

"We're looking forward to having Carly join our team this fall," said head coach Jerry Smith. "We know her very well as we had the opportunity to really get to know her while her older sister, Paige, was playing for us. Carly comes from a wonderful family and is a student-athlete with a great upside. We look for Carly to add depth to our back line and possibly see some time in midfield."

A dual-sport athlete in high school, Robertson suited up in both soccer and track and field. She led her Falcon soccer squad to the North Coast Section playoffs in each of her four years as a varsity starter. She backed up her performance on the pitch with tremendous effort in the classroom, earning NCS-CIF Scholar Athlete awards during her four-year high school journey. On the track, Roberston competed in the 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter and 4 x 400 meter events.

At the club level, Robertson played for the Mustang Xplosion based in Danville, Calif. Competing with the same club team since 2006, Robertson and her team have racked up various awards at a number of different competitions throughout the years. In 2014, Roberston facilitated her squad's run to the finals of Surf Cup XXXIV, one year after reaching the semi-finals and three years after appearing in the quarterfinals of the same event. Prior, Robertson and the Xplosion were crowned ECNL League Champions in 2012 and qualified for the ENCL Champions League playoffs the following year. Finally, between 2006 and 2009, the squad also captured the NorCal State Cup Premier Championship each season.

Robertson has also made an impact in her community, dedicating over 150 hours of her time to performing community service as a member of the National Charity League. She is also a four-year member of her high school leadership team and is the current ASB President at Foothill. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family.

Robertson will continue the Robertson family legacy at Santa Clara when she joins the team in the fall. She is the younger sister of Paige Robertson, a four-year soccer player at Santa Clara between 2010 and 2013.

"I decided to choose Santa Clara for many reasons," said Robertson. "Ever since my sister attended, I saw how amazing the school was and what an incredible soccer program they had to offer their athletes. I knew the place was for me. The people who attend SCU are truly some of the best people you will ever meet, which makes it an incredible environment to be given the opportunity to be a part of. The soccer program is the best. The coaching staff and the team all go into making Santa Clara soccer so unique which made it a very easy decision to choose Santa Clara."
