Meet the Future of Bronco Women’s Soccer: Jazmin Jackmon

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - With preparations being made for the upcoming 2015 season, the Santa Clara women's soccer team welcomes Jazmin Jackmon from the 2015 signing class to the Broncos' roster. A Southern California native, Jackmon is from South Pasadena and attends South Pasadena High School.

"Jazzy will be a wonderful addition to our program," said head coach Jerry Smith. "She's an outstanding young woman, a great athlete, and a very experienced back line player.  Jazzy will compete for playing time at center back and left back.  She is a tall, powerful, lefty who offers tremendous upside on both sides of the ball."

As a dual-sport athlete, Jackmon has competed in both soccer and track and field during her high school career. On the pitch, Jackmon has propelled the South Pasadena Tigers to the CIF playoffs over the past three years. In 2011-12, the squad captured the league championship and made the semi-finals of the CIF playoffs. The Tigers followed that performance with a quarterfinal appearance the very next season. In track and field, Jackmon has led her team to league championships in each of her seasons of competition, including a CIF Championship crown as well.

On an individual level, Jackmon has a number of accolades both on the field and on the track. In 2011-12, she was the varsity soccer Newcomer of the Year and a member of the varsity soccer honorable mention squad. The following year, she earned All-League Second Team honors and was named as the squad's Defensive Player of the Year. Based on her performance in track and field, Jackmon was named as her team's Most Outstanding Performer in 2014. Throughout her track and field days at South Pasadena, she has both captained her squad and been a CIF finalist.

Continuing a legacy of collegiate competition, Jackmon is following in the footsteps of her father, Marvin, who played college football at California Polytechnic State University and Northern Arizona University. As a professional, he was a free agent signee for the local San Francisco 49ers organization.

In her free time, Jackmon enjoys playing soccer and listening to music. She hopes to either become a lawyer or play soccer professionally in the future.

"I fell in love with Santa Clara because it is a close-knit, beautiful campus with an outstanding academic and athletic reputation," said Jackmon. "The small student-to-faculty ratio and the Bronco style of play on the field is the perfect fit for me. In addition, the coaching staff made it clear they are very family oriented which is important to my family and me. I truly look forward to every step of this upcoming journey. I am truly blessed and excited for this opportunity."
