SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The SCU women's tennis team is preparing for the Bronco Invite that will be held on November 9-11 on the Mission Campus. SantaClaraBroncos.com caught up with sophomore Stephanie Skaras who recently participated in the ITA Regional Championships on October 20-21 where she earned a 3-1 singles record.

SCB: Talk about your busy weekend and 3-1 singles record at the ITA Regional Championships.

SS: Overall I was pretty happy with the way I played at the ITA Regionals. I felt much better about my matches than in the previous tournaments we have played and I've just been trying to implement what I have been working on with our coaches.

SCB: How did you prepare physically and mentally for these matches?
SS: I prepared like I would for any other match, eating well, staying hydrated and getting lots of sleep.

SCB: How will these matches better prepare you for future ones?
SS: I had a tough loss in the tournament which was disappointing, but I will learn from it and be able to use that experience in matches in the future.

SCB: Do you prefer playing singles or doubles? Why?
SS: I enjoy playing both but I prefer singles. I haven't played as much doubles so I am more confident and comfortable in singles.

SCB: When did you begin playing tennis competitively?
SS: I began playing competitively when I was around 11 or 12 years old.

SCB: What are your hobbies outside of playing tennis?
SS: I like reading, hanging out with friends and going to the gym.

SCB: What are your goals for finishing out your second season on the team?
SS: I want to keep improving my game and hopefully finish the season with a winning record, and be ready to do well as a team at conference.

Go Broncos!
