SANTA CLARA, Calif.—After pulling out a tight 4-3 win over UC Davis on Feb. 3, the Santa Clara women's tennis team will continue its non-conference run with two dual matches this weekend on the Mission Campus. On Sat., Feb. 9 the Broncos host cross-town rival San Jose State at 11:00 a.m. The following day, Sun., Feb. 10, the Broncos take on ranked opponent No. 56 Fresno State at 11 a.m. at the Degheri Tennis Center.

"The women are excited to play at home against two very good teams," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "I predict that these will both be two tough close matches, and we will look to play to our strengths on our home courts."

Over Super Bowl weekend, Santa Clara (2-2) tallied its first away victory of the season behind the efforts of duo Stephanie Skaras and newcomer Delphine Rouvillois at the No. 3 doubles spot for the Broncos. They were key in clinching the doubles point for Santa Clara, which allowed for the team to come out on top 4-3 in the tight UC Davis match.

In addition, Broncos' singles standout No. 26 Katie Le secured a favorable singles outcome when she defeated the Aggie's Megan Heneghan by a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. This weekend Le looks to improve her continued success with two big matches against solid players.

The Saturday match features the San Jose State Spartans (4-2). San Jose is coming off of a 5-2 win in a non-conference dual match against Cal Poly on Feb. 3. The cross-town rival's two season losses come from UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. The match-up between the Broncos and the Spartans last year ended with a Santa Clara win, 7-0.

On Sunday, the No. 56 Fresno State Bulldogs come to the Mission Campus after a 7-0 loss against No. 4 USC on Feb. 2. Last year in Fresno, Calif., the No. 51 Broncos fell just short to the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. This weekend, Santa Clara looks to challenge the fourth ranked team it will have faced this 2013 regular season. On Feb. 1, Fresno knocked off WCC opponent No. 33 Pepperdine Waves, 4-3 in San Diego, Calif.
