SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Coming off of a 6-1 victory over Gonzaga on Friday, the No. 58 Santa Clara women's tennis team finished off West Coast Conference league play with a 4-3 win over Portland on Saturday. The last match of the 2013 regular season takes place at non-conference competitor No. 70 Oregon at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

The 2013 WCC regular season concluded with a three-way tie atop the standings between Saint Mary's, Santa Clara and Pepperdine. The Gaels, Broncos and Waves each finished Conference play with a 7-1 record and are co-Champions. The 2013 regular season WCC title is a first for the Santa Clara women's tennis program.

"I am so proud of this team and what we have accomplished this season so far. Finishing in a tie for first is an incredible feat and a first in our program's history," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "The girls put a lot of hard work into this year, especially in our conference matches. It is great to see our hard work rewarded."

Against Portland (8-13; 1-7 WCC), Santa Clara (11-8; 7-1 WCC) was able to capture the doubles point early on with wins at the No. 2 and 3 courts. Partners Kelly Lamble and Maggie McGeorge took a 8-4 victory over Anastasia Polyakova and Emily Gould of the Pilots at the No. 2 position. Duo Stephanie Skaras and Delphine Rouvillois solidified the doubles point by defeating Maja Mladenovic and Tori Troesch by a score of 8-5 at the No. 3 position.

On the singles side, the Broncos took three of the six individual matches. At the No. 1 spot, No. 28 Katie Le dominated Maja Mladenovic of the Pilots in two straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Chelby Cooke battled through three sets after dropping the second set to defeat Valeska Hoath, 7-5, 1-6, 6-1. To take the overall victory, freshman Rouvillois topped Tori Troesch in two-sets 6-1, 6-4.

The Broncos take on No. 70 Oregon on Sun., April 21 at 12:00 p.m. as their final regular season match.

"The Oregon match on Sunday is a big match for us. This is our final competition with a ranked opponent before the WCC Tournament in San Diego," said Cabell. "We played the Ducks earlier this season and we walked away with the tight 4-3 win. If we can bring home a 3-0 record this weekend, it will give us that extra boost we will need for the WCC Championships next week."
