SANTA CLARA, Calif.—The Santa Clara women's tennis team dropped its third match of the 2013 regular season, falling at No. 33 University of Arizona (6-3) by a score of 6-1. The Broncos (2-3) travel to No. 28 Arizona State (5-1) on Sun., Feb. 17 at 11:00 a.m.

In doubles, Jessica Agra and Katie Le came out on top in their match against Lacey Smyth and Shayne Austin of the Wildcats, 8-6. The Broncos' No. 2 and No. 3 doubles duos could not solidify the doubles point after that. Stephanie Skaras and Delphine Rouvillois fell for the first time this season to Susan McRann and Akilah James 8-2, and senior partners Kelly Lamble and Maggie McGeorge lost 8-1 to Kim Stubbe and Inge Hendrikx.

Santa Clara's lone singles point came from freshman Chelby Cooke at the No. 6 position over Susan Mc Rann of Arizona. For the second weekend in a row, Cooke topped her opponent, this time in two sets 6-4, 6-2. The Bakersfield, Calif. native improves her 2013 record to 4-4.

In an upset, No. 25 Katie Le was trumped by Arizona's Lacey Smyth, who is ranked No. 108 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Le fell in the first set 6-2 and could not hold on in the second, losing in a second-set tiebreaker 7-6(8). Le's regular season singles record now stands at 4-3.

The Broncos end their weekend road trip in Tempe, Ariz., playing at No. 28 Arizona State on Sun., Feb. 17 at 11:00 a.m.

The Sun Devil's (5-1) are coming off of a defeated the Bulldogs of Fresno State, 6-1, on Feb. 16. They also beat UC Davis and San Jose State by a score of 7-0. Freshman Desirae Krawczyk is currently ranked No. 120 by the ITA.
