SANTA CLARA, Calif. - No. 26 Katie Le of the Santa Clara University women's tennis team will face No. 30 Emina Bektas of Michigan at 7 a.m. Pacific on Wed., May 22 in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships at the University of Illinois. Viewers can stream Le's match live online at the NCAA Championships Central website.

"I haven't played Emina before, but she has nearly the same ranking as me so I know she's going to be tough," said Le. "The courts are pretty slow and it's also humid and windy so the conditions are a lot different from back home. But, I'm only going to focus on playing and things I can control. I'm really excited!"

Bektas, a sophomore at University of Michigan, is ranked No. 30 by the ITA.  She will be participating in her second consecutive NCAA Tennis Championships. This year the sophomore will in both the doubles and singles NCAA Championshipss. Bektas posts an overall 24-8 singles record, going 18-4 at No. 1 for the No. 10 University of Michigan team.

Adding to her already impressive Santa Clara tennis resume, Le has been selected as one of the 64 singles players that will compete in the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship. This is the Milpitas, Calif. native's second consecutive at-large selection to the NCAA Singles Championships. The junior posted an overall 21-12 singles record.  She was awarded All-WCC First Team in singles and Second-Team Team honors in doubles for the 2012-13 season.

Singles competition will be played at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., beginning on May 22 through the 27. All matches will be the best of three sets with regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games.
