STANFORD, Calif./PORTLAND, Ore. — Santa Clara men's track & field kept its streak of 2019 record-setting performances in tact on Thursday. Jack Davidson bested his own 5,000-meter program record with a 14:00.91 at the Payton Jordan Invitational (Cobb Track and Angell Field), marking the fifth straight week of competition that a Bronco has achieved a new program-best time.

Davidson's mark comes in at more than three seconds faster compared to his prior best – 14:04.47 at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on March 29.

Zach Litoff also raced in the Stanford-hosted event and clocked an 8:52.38 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The Broncos capped another two-meet week on Friday at the Portland Twilight (Lewis & Clark College). Sarah King led a group of four women's runners at 1,500 meters while Christian Raslowsky finished first among five Broncos at that distance and Ben Davidson topped a four-runner SCU unit at 5,000 meters.

FROM THE COACHES

Head coach Felipe Montoro: "That was an amazing effort by Jack Davidson and Zach Litoff. They have really stepped up this season and competed at another level. Neither felt particularly good today, but they really ran tough and competed with some very good athletes. I'm very pleased with both of their efforts.

"In Portland, the 1,500-meter guys that competed all ran phenomenal races; it was really fun to watch. I was also proud of the 5,000-meter guys for showing a lot of toughness."

Associate head coach Pete Cushman: "The women ran great races and continue to improve. They're competing, having fun and running faster. I'm very proud all around."
