Head Coach Mark O'Brien
On Matt Wickswat's 10-strikeout performance
"Matt did a nice job for us tonight. The reason we won this game is because of our pitching, there's no doubt about that. Wickswat set the tone, and it was good to see him come back and do a great job for us tonight after kind of a tough outing last weekend in Hawaii."
On Wickswat's poise in getting out of the jams:
"We talk about competing on the next pitch, and Matt, despite some things that were out of his control, did a great job of getting to that next pitch."
On the offense coming through in the big four-run seventh:
"We started off slow, but we turned it on at the end. I like that we hung in there and then got it done when we needed to."
On taking the first game of the series:
"Its always big to get the first one. But we have to come back tomorrow, and we're expecting a dogfight, Utah is a good team and will get better as the series goes along."
Pitcher Matt Wickswat
On bouncing back tonight with a solid start:
"I felt better tonight and was hitting my spots in the zone. The defense definitely helped me out a lot and made some big plays."
On getting out of the jams:
"Basically its what we've been taught from day one, just get to the next pitch. I think that's one of the biggest keys we have as a pitching staff, is competing on every pitch even when innings get extended like that."
