SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The last pitch of the college baseball season certainly does not signal the end of the baseball year for many collegiate players. With summer already here, 17 Santa Clara baseball stars are dispersing all around the nation to take part in summer leagues ranging from the New England coast all the way to the Great White North, and Bronco fans can follow the adventures of SCU ballplayers right here on santaclarabroncos.com.

Catcher Tommy Medica will be traveling and facing top international competition this summer with the U.S. National team.

Three Broncos, outfielder Matt Long, along with pitchers Matt Wickswat and Mark Willinsky, will ply their trade in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League on the New England Coast. Long and Wickswat will take the field as teammates with the Yarmouth-Dennis (Y-D) Red Sox, while Willinsky suits up for the Harwich Mariners.

Among the Broncos heading way north to the Alaskan Baseball League are pitchers Donald Brandt, Nate Garcia, Steve Kalush, and Alex Rivers. Brandt will pitch for the Anchorage Bucs while the 2007 freshman trio of Garcia, Kalush, and Rivers will be featured in the rotation of the MatSu Miners.

A quartet of Broncos will spend their summer in the Northwoods Baseball League, based in and around the greater Wisconsin-Minnesota area. Righties Justin Kuehn and Jeff Lombard will take the hill for the Green Bay Bullfrogs, while outfielders Nathan Faulkner Evan LeBlanc star for the Thunder Bay Border Cats and Madison Mallards, respectively.

Freshman reliever Matt Hiserman and shortstop Jon Karcich will both play for the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, and Ian O'Connor will remain in the Golden State, playing for the San Luis Obispo Blues of the California Collegiate League.

Fellow freshman Patrick Glenn and Geoff Klein will also stay based in California, playing for the independent Maxim Yankees.
