Head Coach Mark O'Brien
On the game:
"I think we needed to get our spirits back up after a tough game yesterday, and we did a good job of competing the way that we are capable of doing. I was happy with the way Donald set the tone for us and how we got some early runs. I thought that we had better energy and the right attitude today."
On the play of Juan Parra and Geoff Klein, two newcomers to the starting lineup:
"Juan's an infectious player, our guys feed off of his speed, energy, and great defense. When he gets on the bases, it puts some fear into the opposing dugout because he can do good things on the basepaths."
"We needed a solid effort out of Geoff today, and we got that from him. We gave Carl [Bacon] the day off because we didn't want him to catch four straight days. But to be a freshman and go behind the plate in a game we needed to win, I was really happy with the way he handled out pitching staff and he had some very good at-bats."
On heading into next weekend's games against Cal Poly:
"We took a step in the right direction today, although we do need to eliminate some mistakes that were made. It just gets down to the fact that we need to make sure that we are competing on every pitch for nine innings, because if we do that, then we'll give ourselves the opportunity to win."
