SCU Baseball Shutout 3-0 At UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. - The Santa Clara baseball team faced its first shutout of the season as UC Davis posted a 3-0 win Friday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium. The setback gives the Broncos a 10-4 overall record, while the Aggies improved to 9-7 on the season.

The Aggies scored in both the first and second innings to take a 3-0 lead. Jake Jefferies has a two RBI single in the first inning to bring home Ty Kelly and Ryan Royster. Royster walked in the leadoff spot, while Kelly singled and advanced to second on the throw. In the second inning, Kyle Mihaylo hit a solo home run. UC Davis tallied three runs on three hits.

Both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest though the Broncos finally got their first hit of the contest on a Ryan Conan single in the top of the fifth inning. Santa Clara's four hits for the game were the lowest the team has been held to thus far this season.

The Broncos and Aggies continue action on Saturday, March 15 at Stephen Schott Stadium in Santa Clara. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
