SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara baseball team lost two hard-fought games on Saturday to UC Davis to drop to 0-3 in the four game series. The Aggies won game one of the doubleheader, 12-5, and then rallied back to post a, 7-3, win over the Broncos in game two. With the two setbacks, SCU dropped to 10-6 on the season, while UC Davis improved to 11-7.

In game one both Evan LeBlanc and Ryan Conan were 3-for-5 at bat, with LeBlanc posting three RBIs and one home run. Gabe Alcantar dished out his second home run of the season, while Patrick Glenn posted a game-high three runs. The Aggies jumped to a 4-0 lead after registering two runs in both the first and fourth innings. They then tacked on their fifth run of the game in the top of the fifth.

UC Davis held Santa Clara scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the Broncos registered two runs on Alcantar's solo home run and a Brady Fuerst single up the middle that sent home Glenn. In the seventh inning, LeBlanc singled through the left side to bring home Glen and then hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning to give Santa Clara its fifth run. However, the Aggies had a three run eighth and a four-run ninth inning that gave them the win.

In game two, Tommy Medica, Alcantar and Fuerst all went 2-for-4 at bat with Medica scoring in the first inning with a solo home run down the left field line. Alcantar then scored in the second inning to give SCU a 2-0 lead after singling to right field and advancing to third on a Geoff Klein single. The Broncos then held off the Aggies until the eighth inning when the posted a five-run outburst to take a 5-2 lead. Santa Clara began to chip away at the lead with a run in the bottom on the eighth as Matt Long scored on a Conan sacrifice fly. But Ryan Royster and Ty Kelly would score in the top of the ninth to give UC Davis the 7-3 win.

The Broncos and Aggies bring the four game series to a close Sunday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium in Davis, Calif. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
