SANTA CLARA, Calif. - With the summer already here, 17 Santa Clara baseball stars will highlight summer leagues ranging from the New England coast all the way to the Great White North, and Broncos fans can follow the adventures of SCU ballplayers right here on SantaClaraBroncos.com.

This summer, Santa Clara boasts two student-athletes that were invited to national team trials. Catcher Tommy Medica will be spending his summer once again with either the U.S. National team or making his way to the East Coast as a member of the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod League. Meanwhile, freshman All-American Thain Simon, who has dual citizenship in the USA and Canada, was invited to the Canadian National team trials. He will either travel with them or compete as a member of the Mat-Su Miners of the Alaskan Baseball League.

Also making their way to New England this summer are Nate Garcia and Steve Kalush. Garcia will pitch for the Cotuit Kettlers, while Kalush will be featured in the rotation for the Harwich Mariners.

A quartet of Broncos will spend their summer in the Northwoods Baseball League, based in and around the greater Wisconsin-Minnesota area. Power hitter Evan LeBlanc returns to the Madison Mallards this summer and will be joined by righty Alex Rivers, while Jon Karcich will suit up for the Green Bay Bullfrogs and Geoff Klein will be featured in the Wisconsin Woodchucks' lineup.

Taking part in the West Coast league are pitchers Matt Renner and Joe Supple. Renner will be featured in the Spokane River Hawks rotation, while Supple will play for the Bend Elks.

Matt Long, Ian O'Connor and Jason Westerberg will remain in California this summer. Long will play for the independent Maxim Yankees and O'Connor returns home to play for the San Luis Obispo Blues for the second straight summer, while Westerberg will stay in the Bay Area and compete for the San Francisco Seals.

Although his team hasn't been decided, Curtis Wagner will play in the Hawaii Collegiate League while Jim Heintz returns to Arizona to play for the Reds. Patrick Terry will be featured in the lineup for the Regina Red Sox of the Western Major Baseball League and Thomas Dore will play for the Palo Alto Oaks of the Western Baseball Association.
