SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara pitcher Nate Garcia was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week today for his performance in the Broncos 8-0 victory over the University of San Francisco on Friday. Garcia threw a complete game shutout, scattering four hits over nine innings without walking a batter and striking out nine. It was Garcia's first shutout of his career and the first for the Broncos on the season.
Garcia is 4-2 on the season and leads the team in strikeouts, innings pitched, and complete games. His 3.22 ERA is second on the team.
Santa Clara is 21-15 for the year, 7-5 WCC play and moved into sole possession of third place after taking two of three from San Francisco.The Broncos host Stanford tonight at 5 p.m. at Stephen Schott Stadium. The game will also be televised on CBS College Sports.
