SACRAMENTO, Calif. – No. 22 Santa Clara men's soccer and Sacramento State played to a 1-all draw in the exhibition opener on a scorching Tuesday evening where the game time temperature soared over 100 degrees.
The newcomer tandem of Jesse Anamoo and Adem Hamdaoua linked up in the 43rd minute for the first goal of the match for Santa Clara. Hamdaoua's shot was tip saved by Hornets goalkeeper Mac Learned but Anamoo slid in from the right side and kicked it in with his right foot to open the scoring.
The Broncos kept the pressure in the final minutes of the opening half peppering Learned with multiple shots. Hamdaoua put two shots on frame while Oladayo Thomas put one but Learned made a save on each of them.
Sacramento State evened the matched in the 65th minute on Justin St. Faison's unassisted goal.
Seven of the nine shots for the Broncos were on frame while the Hornets put four of 10 shots on target.

The Broncos play the second and final exhibition match, heading down to San Luis Obispo to face Cal Poly on Saturday. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
