Late Goal Lifts No. 22 Men’s Soccer Over Cal Poly in Exhibition Finale

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.Oladayo Thomas scored in the 86th minute to break a scoreless deadlock to lift No. 22 Santa Clara men's soccer to a 1-0 win over Cal Poly in the exhibition finale on Saturday night.

Thomas, a preseason All-West Coast Conference selection, scored from 10 yards out when he one-timed a feed from Bar Hazut past Cal Poly goalkeeper Gabe Penner.  On the play, Hazut walled off a Mustang defender on a throw in, made a nifty move to get past a second defender before delivering the pass from the right side to Thomas.

Santa Clara had a 7-5 advantage in shots including two by Thomas that were both on frame.  No other shots found the target.  The corner kicks were even at three each.
